Being productive isn’t always easy, especially during the pandemic when everything has become online and home. It is easy to become distracted at home, and it can be hard to stay on task. As a first-year pharmacy school student, I struggle with keeping on top of schoolwork sometimes and how to stay productive every day, so here are some tips on how I stay productive daily.

8 Productivity Tips:

  1. Make a schedule using either a planner, google calendar, or your phone calendar and stick to it. I use a monthly chalkboard calendar to keep track of important dates, exams, and homework assignments.

  2. Plan breaks in your schedule, so you have time to unwind and reset, time your holidays, so you have time to relax but also time to get back to your work.

  3. Clear all distractions away, whether it be your phone, social media, family members, don’t let things distract you from sticking to your goals.

  4. Maintain a healthy routine, make sure you eat regularly, exercise, and get a good night’s sleep 8 hours every night.

  5. Find a study partner who will help you stay on track. At the same time, find a way to hold yourself accountable, don’t always rely on others to motivate you.

  6. Organize your space, whether that be physical space such as your desk or virtual space such as organizing your files or cleaning up your emails. Having a clutter-free workspace will keep you from feeling overwhelmed and help you become more productive.

  7. Make your workspace your own; make it somewhere you want to be and want to work in. I use an oil diffuser and make sure I keep my door closed from outside distractions when I do schoolwork at home.

  8. One app that has helped me track my goals and has helped me with productivity is an app called done; it is available from the Apple app store. With the app done, you can create plans; you can also track bad habits. It lets you see your streaks and trends over time. It is an excellent tool to both develop new goals and kick old habits.

I hope these tips have been helpful to you; it can be hard to stay productive, especially during a pandemic but try to stay on top of your work and hold yourself accountable every day!
